Bobby Michaels – The Man, the Music, the Message, the Mission
Bobby Michaels, a dynamic speaker and talented, award-winning musician is our featured speaker AND musician for the Single Point Spring 2006 retreat. Raised on military bases, he dreamed of becoming a singer and became successful in Los Angeles and Las Vegas as a backup singer to artists such as B. J. Thomas, Freddie Fender, Linda Ronstadt, and Frank Sinatra. In that environment, he succumbed to the temptations of cocaine and other drugs. He eventually entered a detox program to overcome the problem and change the direction his life was taking.
While dealing with his addictions, he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at a Billy Graham Crusade and then attended Texas Christian University for a formal Christian music education. He has gone on to much award-winning success in the Christian music industry. He was the first Christian recording artist in 40 years to be invited by the Republic of China to teach and perform throughout the country, and has performed in many other countries around the world.
Recognizing that God had given him, and many other artists, a dual role as musicians and missionaries, he formed Musicianaries International, Inc. in 1999. As a "musicianary" he strives to bring a global perspective to the churches as he travels to share his music and message. What a wonderful opportunity this will be to experience and be blessed by the talents and testimony of this man who has been called by God into such an exciting ministry! Maranatha, our conference center, proposed and is doing something new by featuring our retreat in their publications and on their website to extend an invitation for other singles to join us. Not only will we get to enjoy and strengthen relationships with our Single Point family, but we will also be able to welcome and get to know new brothers and sisters in Christ.
The retreat will be held at Maranatha Bible and Conference Center on the shores of Lake Michigan near Grand Rapids on Memorial Day weekend. We leave late Friday afternoon, May 26th and return Sunday evening, May 28th. Saturday afternoon free time offers opportunities for nature walks, strolls along the shores of Lake Michigan, golf, special side-trips for shopping or sight-seeing, and the enjoyment of recreational opportunities on the Maranatha grounds. Evenings end each night with a bonfire under the stars on the Lake Michigan shore.
Experience fun and spiritual growth in this eventful weekend and still have Monday for yourself for R&R, picnics, etc. The registration cost (TBD) includes bus transportation, box meal for the trip up on Friday, meals, snacks, and accommodations.
